The Continuum of Care: Residential & Outpatient

The key to successful, long-term recovery from addiction is the “continuum of care.”  Through this approach and array of services, Livengrin is able to provide help regardless of where the individual comes into treatment.  Then it can continue promoting recovery into later stages as the person returns to, and continues with, life in the family and community.

Livengrin is licensed and certified to provide professional treatment services for alcoholism, drug dependency, and cases involving dual diagnosis with mental health issues.

For information on dual diagnosis, click here.

A First Step: Evaluation

Because the individualized therapeutic plan is a crucial tool, each person's path to recovery begins with a comprehensive clinical assessment. This ensures that our highly-trained staff can direct the patient to the best type and length of treatment.

With that initial "intake," together we can determine that Livengrin is the appropriate facility for you. This can most efficiently be accomplished with a phone call, but can also be done in person or online.  (To learn more about the admissions process and what patients and families can expect and plan for, click here.)

We also help navigate insurance and financial issues.

After assessment, the 24-hour nursing staff and "best in the field" medical team focus on improving physical health and the complexities of detoxification if necessary.

Residential Services

For many, the stability and structure of a residential program can be most beneficial. A temporary separation from family, job and the routine of daily life (and its many “triggers” for alcohol and drug use) promotes health and recovery. This can be achieved with a stay at Livengrin's quiet campus for up to four weeks.

With individual and group counseling, life-skills training, twelve-step meetings and balanced nutrition, one learns about making better choices.

Those in need of medical detoxification and treatment of withdrawal symptoms will find a safe environment with professional medical and nursing staff.

Outpatient Services

There are many individuals needing initial or ongoing treatment for chemical dependency, but for whom inpatient services may not be appropriate.  Others may be “moving forward” to the next step after an inpatient program.  For these people, Livengrin provides five outpatient centers around the region.

Visit any of these locations and get the help or information you're seeking. For many people, the therapeutic process that can address your problem will be found at a Livengrin Counseling Center.  For a list of locations, click here.

All Livengrin Counseling Centers provide Evaluations and Assessments for a prospective patient, to determine progression of their disease and make appropriate recommendation for the level of care. Appointments are available and recommended.

These services are designed for the patient requiring a concentrated treatment, who does not require a residential program. They combine education on mind/body development during recovery, group therapy, and a family education & group component. Length of stay in the program is based on the individual's clinical needs. Morning or evening sessions.

Full Day Outpatient combines intensive treatment, education and individual/group therapies without an overnight stay.

Intensive Outpatient (IOP) allows the patient to maintain employment and other necessary activities, with therapeutic and educational sessions three times weekly.

General outpatient approaches include traditional individual, group and family therapy, 2-3 hours weekly.

Specialized Outpatient Programs are available as warranted by an individual's needs, location and schedule. These services vary between day and evening sessions, and by Counseling Center location.

Early Recovery Skills Group Enables people to learn the basic tools needed to stop the use of drugs and/or alcohol, adjust to group settings, become familiar with 12-step principles and prepare for Relapse Prevention groups.

Impaired Professionals Specialized treatment for those in the medical and pharmaceutical fields.

Relapse Prevention Group Provides insight on the barriers to recovery, provides necessary tools to sustain recovery.

Transitional Groups Offers the support needed after a patient completes all recommended levels of treatment. Augments (not replaces) the 12-Step meeting format, in men's and women's groups.

DAAP Pro-active measures for people whose lives have begun to be impacted by alcohol or substance abuse. Provides education on the disease of addiction and the knowledge needed to evaluate one's own need for abstinence. Includes 12-step meetings.

Intervention Staff consults with those close to a person who is currently in, or is on the path to, alcohol and/or chemical dependency, and makes referrals as warranted to appropriate professionals.

Remember, Livengrin creates an individualized treatment plan for each person, beginning with the admissions process, and the inclusion of a patient in any residential or outpatient service is based primarily on the treatment plan.
